SKILLS NEED PRACTICE

How about the old saying: "Practice makes perfect!" This is not always true! What if I practice the wrong or incorrect, will that then mean that I have perfected the wrong? That, cannot be perfect in the true sense of the word because we normally interpret "perfect" as "without fault," but it could mean that I have made that wrong "permanent" and difficult to change. So, let us be careful, and let us make sure we practice the right stuff in the right way. We should change "Practice makes perfect," to "Practice makes permanent"

Even  professional sportspeople have trainers, why? To make sure the right stuff is practiced in the right way. Did Roger Federer, or Tiger Woods, or Michael Jackson, or Bruce Lee, became the best in what they do overnight without practice, of course not? It took days, weeks, months, years of practice, and more practice, and more practice and yet, though at the top in their field, the practice continues or continued. Why is so much practice necessary? Simply to stay at the top of their trade!

What does all of this have to do with the topic, simply the fact that in all of above skills are involved. I would like to link this to my next article about language learning.

Have a wondrous time until our next Chatty-Chatty Bang-Bang.
